Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 7, at 10:30 a.m. for Ira J. Wilson, 72, Delmar, at the United Methodist Church in Delmar. The Rev. Douglas Tharpe officiated. Organist was Mae McDonald, with Sandy Collister, soloist.

Pallbearers were Gary, Maynard and David Wilson; Jeff and Jim Sievert; and Dean Penningroth. Burial was in Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Visitation was from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Haylock O'Hara Funeral Home, Maquoketa. The remains were taken to the church at 9:30 on Wednesday.

The family prefers that memorials be given.

Mr. Wilson, a retired farmer, died Saturday morning, November 3, at St. John's Hospital, Anderson, Indiana.

He was born on October 31, 1907, the son of Henry and Pearl Flannagan Wilson, at Hopkinton, Iowa. On February 23, 1934, he married Mildred Penningroth near Buck Creek, near Hopkinton.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Joyce) Sievert, Sioux City; a son, Richard, Middletown, Ind.; his mother; a sister, Mrs. Dale (Eliza) Patton, Manchester; two brothers, Ivan, Hopkinton and Burdett, Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father and one brother.

Mr. Wilson was a member of the Knights of Pythias and the Odd Fellows, Maquoketa.
