Mrs. Elizabeth D. Carvel Laughlin, aged 54 years, wife of M. F. Laughlin, died at her home, 222 North Seventh street at 9:30 o'clock this morning after a lingering illness due to a complication of diseases. Mrs. Laughlin was taken ill last Christmas and although tenderly cared for and given every medical attention, she gradually grew worse, having been confined to her bed for the past couple of months. The news of her death will be received with regret by a large circle of friends both in this city and in the surrounding towns, where she was well known, having been born in Bryant, Iowa, June 10, 1861.

She grew to womanhood in Bryant and in 1881 was united in marriage to M. F. Laughlin in Lyons, and have made their home here ever since. Her bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of their numerous friends.

Surviving the deceased besides her husband are five children, Mrs. Frank McGinn, Fort Dodge, Louis Laughlin of Chicago, William and Arthur Laughlin of Perry, Iowa and Miss Vivian at home. One daughter Marguerite died three years ago. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. M. K. Madden and Mrs. H. E. Rodman of this city, Mrs. Joe Monnig of Denver, Colo. and Mrs. Otto Bauer of Denver, Colo. Also four brothers, John Carvel of Sioux City, Tom Carvel of Los Angeles, California and William and Dave Carvel of Orville, Cal.

The funeral will probably be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Irenaeus church. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery.

The funeral of the late Mrs. M. F. Laughlin, will be held Wednesday morning at 9 o'clock from St. Irenaeus church. Requiem High mass will be celebrated by Rev. James Comerford. Interment will be made in Calvary cemetery.

Many friends and relatives attended the services over the remains of the late Mrs. M. F. Laughlin held this morning at St. Irenaeus church. Requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. James Comerford, who delivered an impressive sermon. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall bearers were Messrs John Dever, Sr., Peter Slowie, John Cleary, James Hand, Tom Lee and John McCann. Interment was made in Calvary cemetery. Out-of-town relatives here to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. M. F. McGinn, Fort Dodge; Louis Laughlin, Chicago; William Laughlin, Perry, Iowa; John Carvel, Sioux City.
