22 March 1915 - The Clinton Advertiser page 6

Jacob Strohm, aged 76 years, an old Civil war veteran and a former resident of this city, died at his home in Landon, Maryland, according to word received in this city yesterday. No other details were received, but it is thought his death resulted from the infirmities of old age.

The deceased was born in Ohio, October 19, 1838. He enlisted in the Civil war, Company I, second Iowa infantry and served three years. After the war he came to Lyons, where he lived a number of years. He will be remembered by the older residents of this city as the first driver on the horse cars. He was married in Lyons to Betty Ryan, who died a number of years ago.

After many years spent in Lyons he moved to Washington, D.C. and was employed in the government service ever since. He was married in Washington, D. C., a number of years ago, and is survived by his wife. He is also survived by one son, Frank Strohm, of Lyons, two brothers Abe of Nebraska, Isaac of Clinton and one sister, Mrs. Miller of Whitten, Iowa.

Before his death Mr. Stohm requested that he be buried in Arlington Heights with the old soldiers. The funeral was held in Arlington Heights today.
