Friends in this city were shocked today to learn of the death of George Laing, a pioneer resident of Sabula, Iowa. Mr. Laing was found dead in bed this morning. The funeral arrangements have not as yet been announced.

GEORGE F. LAING
George F. Laing, pioneer resident of this locality, passed away suddenly at his home in Sabula at 8:30 o'clock Monday morning, at the age of 82 years and 6 months.
Although he had been in failing health for the past year, his death was, nevertheless, unexpected, being cause by heart failure.
The deceased was a man of sterling character and possessed a host of true friends, who sincerely mourn his loss from their midst. He is survived by one son, G. W. Laing of Bridgewater, S. Dak. Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, pending the son's arrival.
