The Davenport Democrat has the following concerning the death of a former Clinton county man:

William P. Engel, former manager of the St. James buffet of this city, and recently employed at the St. Louis house, passed away at Mercy hospital. He had been complaining of not feeling well for about one week, and was taken to the hospital Friday. Pneumonia was the fatal ailment.

Deceased was born in Clinton county, Iowa, Aug. 12, 1875, and was 42 years old He had made his residence in Davenport for many years. He was a member of the F.O.E. lodge No. 235.

He is survived by his father, William Engel, Sr., two brothers, Frank and Louis Engel, and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Born.

The funeral will take place Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Nissen & Hartwig parlors, 426 West Second street. Interment will follow in Oakdale cemetery.
