Lyle Eugene Bronkema, 84, of Clinton, Iowa, died Wednesday at Mercy One, Clinton. Services will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 11:00AM at the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche. Visitation will be held from 10:00AM until the service hour Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Borgman, Paul Bronkema, Merle Bronkema, Wayne Bronkema, Richard Borgman and Dennis Elmer. Online condolences may be expressed by visiting snellzornig.com.
Lyle was born July 6, 1935 in Fulton, Illinois, the son of John and Shirley (Drury) Bronkema. He was educated in the Slocum Street, Albany, Illinois School. Lyle married Molly Ann Malone on July 7, 1956 in Clinton, Iowa.
He had been employed as an iron worker at Allied Steel and the Howard Steel Company for many years. He had also farmed for many years in Stockton, Lena and Erie, Illinois.
He was a member of the Catholic Church of the Visitation, Camanche and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Molly of Clinton; daughter, Catherine (Richard) Borgman of Jupiter, Florida; grandson, Brian Borgman of Ovieda, Florida; siblings, Wayne (Mary) Bronkema of Pearl City, Illinois; Alice (Robert) Geissberger of Freeport, Illinois; Wilma Hiteman of Freeport, Illinois; Paul (Evelyn) Bronkema of Stockton, Illinois; Faye (Fred) Scheider of Freeport, Illinois; Evelyn (Dennis) Elmer of Dakota, Illinois; Merle (Marie) Bronkema of Pearl City, Illinois; Diane (LaVern) Akins of South Wayne, Wisconsin and Cheryl Bronkema of Freeport, Illinois; sister-in-law, Patricia Bronkema of Forreston, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Maurice and brother-in-law, Adlia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Lyle's name for the Knights of Columbus.
