DeWitt, Ia., Jan. 27.--Miss Ellen Halen, aged 85, one of the oldest of DeWitt's residents, died here at her home last night. She had lived in DeWitt practically all her life, except for a brief period thirty years ago, when she spent some time in Chicago.

Two years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and has been an invalid since. She lived with her brother, Joseph Halen and a niece, Miss Sarah Clavin. She was also survived by three other nieces and a nephew, who are expected here from Chicago this afternoon. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's church here.

Funeral services for the late Miss Ellen Halen were held yesterday morning at nine o'clock at St. Joseph's church, conducted by Reverend J. Nelson, with burial in the Catholic cemetery. Those who acted as bearers of the pall were: James ?, James Thornton, John Ryan, E. Cook, William Tumpane and Thomas Howe. Deceased was survived by a brother, Joseph Halen and a niece, Miss Sarah Clavin of DeWitt and three other nieces and a nephew in Chicago.
