James McKenna, aged 48 years, long time motorman for the Clinton Street Railway company, passed away at 1 o'clock this morning at the home of his mother, Mrs. Charles McKenna, 601 Camanche avenue, after an illness which dated from June 17th, due to rheumatism and complications.

Mr. McKenna's death is mourned by hundreds of warm friends throughout Clinton, where he spent the greater part of his life. He had been employed as motorman on the local street cars almost since boyhood, and had won the friendship and respect of thousands of patrons of the lines, during his many years with the company. He had never married, making his home with his mother, and was of a quiet, genial disposition, and a kind son and brother. Surviving him are his mother, three sisters, Mrs. J. L. Tracy of this city, Mrs. J. A. Dougherty of Chicago and Mrs. B. Manney of Cleveland; three brothers, William, Edward and John McKenna of Chicago, and a nephew, Raymond Dillon, who makes his home with Mrs. McKenna, mother of the deceased.

The funeral will be held from St. Mary's church at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning. At that hour a solemn requiem mass will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's cemetery.

The funeral of the late James McKenna was held this morning, with solemn requiem high mass at St. Mary's church, and interment in St. Mary's cemetery.

Rt. Rev. Monsignor McLaughlin, pastor of St. Mary's church, officiated as celebrant of the mass, assisted by Father O'Donnell and Father Coleman. The monsignor delivered a beautiful and impressive funeral sermon, in which he eulogized the deceased Clinton man. The funeral cortege proceeded by automobile to the cemetery, where there was another short service by Monsignor McLaughlin. The pallbearers were B. Bohnsen, George Lord, Ed Baker, William Welch, Matthew Quinlan and Hans Bartles.

Among those who attended from out of the city were: Mr. and Mrs. W. H. McKenna, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Edward McKenna of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. John McKenna and son Charles, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Dougherty and children, Annabel, Alice and Edward, Chicago; Mr. and Miss Malone, Chicago; Mrs. Bryan Manney, Cleveland; Mrs. L. W. Chambers, Chicago; Miss Madge Tracy, Galena.
