John S. Hart, one of Clinton's oldest and mostly highly respected residents, passed away Sunday evening after a year's illness, due largely to the infirmities of old age. Mr. Hart had been confined to his bed for ten days.
The deceased was about 85 years of age, and had lived in Lyons and Clinton since the year 1855. He followed the occupation of a tailor for many decades, and for many years served in Clinton township as justice of the peace. He was familiarly called "Judge" Hart by his friends and acquaintances in and around Clinton county.
The aged Clinton man is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Hattie Hart, and three sons, Will, John and Reuben C. Hart.
The funeral arrangements were not announced today, as Reuben Hart has been out of the city and had not returned this afternoon.
