Mrs. W. A. Doden, residing southeast of DeWitt, died Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, after an extended illness of cancer of the liver. Deceased is survived by eight children: Henry Doden of Rochester, Minn., Mrs. S. Soenksen of Clinton, Mrs. William Oncken of Sterling, Ill., William, Jerry, Stella, John and Marie at home. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the German Lutheran church in DeWitt.

The funeral of the late Mrs. W. A. Doden was held Thursday afternoon at the family home southeast of DeWitt followed by services at the German Lutheran church in DeWitt. Rev. Hugo Grimm of St. John's church of Lyons officiated.

Mesdames W. S. Saltmarsh, E. J. Miller, Miss Lucy Briggs, N. F. McGinis and Rev. Grimm furnished appropriate music. The remains were laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery in DeWitt.

Mrs. Catherine Doden was born in Hanover Germany, July 27th, 1852. In 1876 she was united in marriage to Gerd Doden. To this union five children were born. In 1884 the family came to America and settled in Morrison. Mr. Doden passed away in that city in 1890. Later his wife married Weerd Doden of Morrison. Three children were born to them. In 1903 the family moved to a farm near DeWitt. Mr. Doden died less than a year ago, December 12, 1916.

Those who survived Mrs. Doden are Henry of Rochester, Minn.; William and Gerd of DeWitt, Mrs. Ann Soenksen of Clinton; Mrs. Millie Oncken of Sterling, Ill.; Odell, John and Mary, who reside near DeWitt.
