Mrs. Louisa Mayer, aged 74 years, and 13 days, died Tuesday evening at 8:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nicholas Milan, 801 South Fifth street, after a few days illness. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. The deceased had been up and around the house, but was taken quite sick Monday and passed away as stated.

Mrs. Mayer, nee Gundlefinger, was born July 13, 1843 in Baden, Germany. At the age of 8 years, in company with her mother, she came to this country settling in Jackson county. She was united in marriage January 29, 1859, to Joseph Mayer, in Jackson county, coming to Lyons shortly afterwards, and has lived here for about fifty-four years.

To this union were born twelve children, six having passed away. Mr. Mayer died February 1, 1915, and since that time she has been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Nicholas Milan, 801 South Fifth street.

She is survived by six daughters, as follows: Mrs. Catherine Nichols, Mrs. Carrie Milan, Lyons, Mrs. Rose Grimm, Rochelle, La., Mrs. Josephine Goettche, Mrs. Emma Cole, Mrs. Louise Reymond, all of Lyons, 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, one brother, Jacob Gundlefinger, and one sister, Mrs. Friedericke Strub, both of the state of Kansas.

No arrangements can be made for the funeral until word is received from Mrs. Grimm, in Rochelle, La.

The funeral of the late Mrs. Louisa Mayer will be held from the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nick Milan, on South Fifth street Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Services will be conducted by Rev. Hugo Grimm of St. John's Lutheran church and interment will be made in Oakland cemetery.

Mrs. Frank Grimm of Rochelle, La., Mrs. J. B. Donald and Mrs. J. Rayman of Savanna, Ill. will arrive here this evening to attend the funeral.

Funeral services of the late Mrs. Louisa Mayer were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the home of her daughter on South Fifth street and was largely attended by many old time friends and neighbors being present to pay their last respects. There were many floral offerings. Rev. Hugo Grimm officiated in the English language. The pall bearers were John Coull, Henry Stange, William Hall, Fred Rehelsky, Will Nichols and Louis Thompson. Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grimm, son Charles and daughter Rosie, of Rochelle, La.; Mr. J. B. Donald of Savanna; Mrs. J. Reymann, Savanna, Ill.
