Obituary for Rosella Mae Robinson
Rosella Mae Robinson, age 89, of DeWitt, Iowa, formally of Savanna, passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Genesis Medical Center in DeWitt, Iowa. A funeral service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, November 4th, 2019 at Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the service. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service with burial of ashes at a later date in Powersville Missouri. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lawjonesfuneralhome.com

Rosella was born on May 10, 1930, the daughter of John S. and Josephine (Collins) Crawford, in Roswell, New Mexico. She attended Powersville High School, graduating with the Class of 1947. She then attended and graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teachers College. On August 20, 1950, Rosella married Don O. Robinson in Stansberry Missouri. She taught school in Missouri, before Don’s railroad career took them to Montana and then to Savanna where they raised their five children. For many years Rosella and her family kept in touch with their Montana friends. Rosella and Don celebrated 26 years of marriage before Don’s passing in 1976. She would later meet Arnold Kunde and they would share their life together on Arnold’s farm in rural DeWitt, Iowa. Rosella spent her time cooking and sewing, while Arnold enjoyed working outside on the farm. They liked baking cookies together, as well as growing pumpkins for their own “Pumpkin Days” on the farm for family and friends.

Rosella will be remembered as a cook in the cafeterias of the Savanna School District for many years. Around the community she was known as an avid seamstress. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t sew or create on the sewing machine, especially creating quilts for her family and loved ones on their special occasions. A favorite destination of Rosella’s was travelling to the Muscatine Button Factory and picking up a “few” boxes of buttons.

Rosella will be dearly missed by her companion, Arnold Kunde of rural DeWitt; three sons, Terry (Georgia) Robinson of Kirkville, Iowa, Lonnie (Karen) Robinson of Savanna, and Pete (Lisa) Robinson of Savanna; two daughters, Nodja (Ken) Jones of Fort Bragg, California, and Renita (Michael) Bellich of Thomson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters Janet (Tom) Rowland and Nellie (Larry) Bruner; brothers John H. (Rose Marie) Crawford, Jerry (Sandi) Crawford and Fred (Debbie) Crawford; and her sister-in-law Darlene (Dean) Trimble. Rosella is preceded in death by her husband, Don, and her half-sister, Bonnie VanDyne.
