Calamus, Iowa, Nov. 21--Charles N. Tryon was born March 4, 1838 at Port Clinton, Ohio, died at Calamus, Ia., Nov. 19, 1917, aged 79 years, 8 months, 15 days. On Sept. 23, 1864 he enlisted in Co. E, 12th Regt. of Iowa Vol. infantry.

Was honorably discharged July 19, 1865 at Selma, Ala.

On Dec. 25, 1866 he was united in marriage to Susan Swarm at DeWitt, Ia. Celebrating their gold wedding at their home last Xmas their seven daughters all being present together with other relatives and friends. Two sons preceded him in death in infancy.

Those left to mourn his loss are his aged and devoted wife and seven daughters: Mrs. Emma Hayes, Mrs. Sadie Blake, Mrs. Mamie Heuer, Mrs. Cora Kenyon and Mrs. Alice White, all of Calamus, Iowa, and Mrs. Adelia Hurley of Garwin, Ia. and Mrs. Eva Heuer of Owens, Wis. Three granddaughters and 8 grandsons and nephew, Charles Rice of Calamus, Iowa.
