Mrs. J. M. Petersen, aged 74 years, died last evening at 6:15 o'clock at the home, over 201 South Fourth street after a two weeks' illness of typhoid fever.

The deceased was born Dec. 1, 1843 in Schleswig, Holstein. She was married Feb. 26, 1866, at Dagebuell, Germany, where they resided for six years, when they came to America and settled in Clinton. On Feb. 26, 1916, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Born to them were eight children, four deceased and four living.

Those who survive to mourn her death are the four children, the Misses Hattie and Anna, Mrs. John Sievers, at home, Mrs. P. H. Breckling of Mount Joy; two sisters, Mrs. Nick Breckling, Gambril; Mrs. Jacob Weinbrandt, Miller, Neb. and two brothers, Henry Jessen, Imlay City, Mich.; and Julius Jessen, Germany; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the late home.

Funeral services for Mrs. J. M Petersen were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the late home, over 201 South Fourth street.

The Rev. A. H. Lutz of the German Lutheran church officiated and burial was made in Springdale cemetery. The pall bearers were Julius Carlsen, Julius Anderson, A. Nissen, B. Johannsen, G. Ehlers and C. Hansen.

From out of the city to attend the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Brekling, Gambril, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. E. Brekling, Eldridge, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Brekling, Mount Joy, Mrs. E. S. Stender, Davenport, Ia.
