Mrs. Steffin Petersen, an old and respected citizen of Charlotte, Iowa, died Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at her home. Mrs. Petersen was well known in the county and had a large circle of friends who will be grieved to learn of her death.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from her home. Services will be conducted by Rev. Hugo Grimm of this city. Interment will be made in the Rossiter cemetery.

Rev. Hugo Grimm has returned home from Charlotte where he officiated at the funeral of the late Mrs. Gensine Petersen, which was held Thursday afternoon with short services at her late home, and the funeral sermon preached in German and English at the Charlotte Lutheran church.

Mrs. Gensine Petersen nee Me?tens, was born in Loland, Denmark, March 6, 1839. She was married later to Jens Sorensen and to this union three children were born. Mr. Sorensen died in 1871 and she was married to Steffen Petersen in 1876. The same year they came to Charlotte where they have resided ever since. The deceased has been ill for the past three months with a complication of diseases, due to the infirmities of old age.

Mrs. Petersen had been a resident of Charlotte for a good many years. She united with the Lutheran church early in life and had remained a faithful member ever since. For the past several years she had found it difficult to get about on account of her illness, and was obliged to remain at home. Her many old friends, however, saw that she was well cared for and will miss her now that she has gone.

She is survived by her aged husband, one son, Jens Sorensen and four grandchildren. Her death occurred Tuesday afternoon at 5 o'clock, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 25 days.
