Fred DeWitt, a former resident of Clinton, passed away at 4:15 o'clock yesterday afternoon at St. Bernard's hospital in Chicago, where he had gone for treatment. Deceased was born and raised in this city, but for the past several years had made his home at Villa Grove, Ill. While here he was a well known railroad man, and his demise came after a long illness. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and two children, and his mother, Mrs. Mary DeWitt; one brother, Bert DeWitt, and a sister, Mrs. Kerivan, all of Clinton, and another sister, Mrs. Robert Funk, of Waterloo.

The funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, but it is expected that the remains will be brought to Clinton for burial.

The funeral of Fred DeWitt, a former Clinton man who died in a Chicago hospital was held this afternoon at 3:30 o'clock from the home of a brother, H. S. DeWitt, 713 south Seventh street, the Rev. Burrell of St. John's Episcopal rectory officiated and interment was made in Springdale cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers were N. K. Lee, N. Dodson, Jesse Benjamin, Bart Fill, George McLarnen, J. F. Simmons.
