Mrs. Doris Kirtley, aged 85 years, formerly of this city, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dora Van Meter, Tipton, Iowa, this morning, according to word received by relatives here.

Mrs. Kirtley was well known in this city as she resided with her sister Mrs. Cailie for a number of years, and her many old friends will be grieved to learn of her death.

She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Vailie, Mrs. Henry Gallion, Mrs. H. A. Hobein and Mrs. Menzo Rodman.

The funeral will be held in DeWitt Wednesday.

Mrs. Dorothea Kirtley, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Van Meter in Tipton, Iowa, Sunday was born in Neuenkirchen, Holstein, Germany, Dec. 24, 1834, and came to this country with her parents in 1852. She is the widow of the late James Kirtley of DeWitt, and for about a year previous to her death had been making her home with her daughter at Tipton.

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Ben Martin, Mrs. John Cosmann of Creswell, Oreg., Henry and Edward Kirtley of Portland, Ore., Will of Romeno, Tex., Tom and Mrs. Frank Blair of Armstad, N.M., and Mrs. Van Meter of Tipton; also a brother E. A. Guth, of Sibley, Ia.; a sister, Mrs. Louise Haes of Holstein, Ia. and Mrs. Hobein, Mrs. Cailie, Mrs. Rodman and Mrs. Galion of this city.

Funeral services are to be held Wednesday afternoon and burial will be made in DeWitt.

The remains of the late Mrs. James W. Kirtley, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. L. Van Meter, at Tipton, arrived in DeWitt this afternoon and were taken to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Horan, where services were held, followed by interment in Elmwood cemetery.

The funeral of the late Mrs. James W. Kirtley was held Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Horan. Rev. H. E. Andrews of Tipton conducted the services. Mrs. W. S. Saltmarsh and Mrs. E. J. Miller sang appropriate selections. The pall bearers were M. Horan, C. N. Butterfield, William Lee, P. Butterius, L. H. Thorne, T. W. Wheeler.
