Dr. George Smith, father of Mrs. George Higgins of this city, died at his home in Bloomington, Ill., at 7:30 o'clock, this morning, according to word received here.

Mrs. Higgins left at 5 o'clock this morning for Bloomington in response to a telegram telling of his serious illness, and Mr. Higgins left at 9:45 after receiving the message of the father's death.

No arrangements have been made for the funeral.

Dr. Smith was a prominent physician of Bloomington.
