Andrew J. Johnson, an old resident of this city, passed away at 6:30 o'clock Tuesday evening at the home of John Carlson, on the island near the Illinois shore, across the river from this city.

Mr. Johnson came from Sweden in 1871, and had made his home here ever since. For several years he conducted a shoe repairing shop on Second street, later occupying a building on Sixth avenue where the City Garage now stands. The last year or two he had made his home on Camanche avenue, until he was taken ill, when he was removed to the Carlson home.

Surviving the deceased are a brother, John Johnson, who lives in a houseboat here, and a sister, Mrs. Nelson, in Sweden.

The funeral of the late Andrew J. Johnson was held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Estabrook chapel on Second street, Rev. Odell of the Swedish Lutheran church conducting the services. Interment took place in the Swedish cemetery.
