John Cumming, 55 years old, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Cumming of DeWitt, died Tuesday at his home in Los Angeles, California. The remains will be brought to DeWitt for burial and will probably arrive Saturday. Mr. Cumming was engaged extensively in the lumber business until two years ago when he retired because of failing sight. Last fall he brought the body of his mother to DeWitt and remained here for several weeks after the funeral. His sister, Mrs. W. P. Dennison, had heard from him frequently since, but she did not know that he was seriously ill until yesterday morning. As she was preparing to leave a second message came announcing his death. Besides Mrs. Dennison, one brother, Magnus, of Centerville, S.D., survives.
