Mrs. Margaret Comas Theis was born in Speicher, Germany on Feb. 20th, 1838 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. F. X. Adams near DeWitt on June 5, 1917 being in her 79th year.
The deceased came to America when about 18 years of age and came direct to Fulton, Ill. After her marriage she settled on a farm near Garden Plain, where she remained for only a short time, soon moving to a farm near Morrison.
Mrs. Theis thirty-five years ago became the sole parent, the support, the guardian and protector and how well she performed this great life work is well shown by the seven children, who during the mother's life grew to useful and worthy manhood and womanhood Mrs. Eva Otterpohl of Napersville, Ill., Mrs. Katherine Becker of Morrison, and Mrs. Margaret Bailey of Chicago, Mrs. Anna Adams of DeWitt, Math Theis, Mrs. Margaret Bailey of Morrison, and Mrs. Josephine Born of Chicago, also eleven grand children and one great grand child.
Mrs. Theis was indeed a worthy woman, beloved by her neighbors and her friends and in her death it was the earthly termination of a life well spent, a day well and faithfully performed. Because of the strong confidence and love between mother and children the going hence of the mother is severe affliction to the survivors. Although Mrs. Theis had not been in robust health, being confined to her bed for the past year.
The funeral was held Friday morning at the Catholic church in Fulton. Requiem high mass was celebrated by Father Clancy of Fulton, assisted by Father Moore of Morrison, Ill. and Father Lawler of DeWitt.
