(Special to the ADVERTISER)
Toronto, Ia., April 12--Lawrence Richey, aged 28, employed as an automobile mechanic at the Willard Cavey garage at this place, ended his life at 3:30 o'clock this morning by shooting himself through the brain. Death followed instantly. Friends and relatives are at a loss to account for his rash act, unless it be that worry over financial matters led him to the act.

Richey was at home when he committed suicide, and using a 32 caliber revolver, stood in front of a looking glass and sent a bullet into his brain. His wife and two year old boy were in the house with him at the time. Mrs. Richey had been ill for three or four months, but of late had been better.

Besides his wife and child, there are surviving him, his mother, Mrs. Lucy Richey of Toronto, and his father, Nathan Richey, living in Minnesota. He was their only child.

The funeral arrangements had not been made this morning. Dr. M. E. Anderson of Clinton, the coroner, was notified of the suicide but decided that as the circumstances surrounding the case were clear, no inquest was necessary.

The coroner Dr. M. E. Anderson, went to Toronto, Ia., last evening to examine the body of Lawrence Richey, the young man who committed suicide by shooting and investigate the case. Dr. Anderson found the circumstances clear and decided that no inquest was necessary.

Relatives and friends of Richey said that he had made threats to take his life at various times, and one of his friends relieved him of a Savage automatic revolver which he had in his possession to prevent any such rash deed. In shooting himself he used a Colt revolver, standing in front of a mirror when he shot himself. The bullet entered the right temple and passing through the brain, came out back of the left ear.
