Clinton, IAAnthony (Tony) Vecchione passed away in the early morning of August 2, 2019 after a long and valiant battle with cancer, his daughter by his side. Cremation rights have been accorded. A visitation and gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday August 8th, 2019 from 5 to 7pm at Pape Funeral Home in Clinton Iowa. An Internment will be held at a later date in Woodstock,Illinois.
Anthony (54) was born on April 23, 1965 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles Vecchione and Doris Nolan. Tony was raised in Woodstock Illinois by his loving parents, Joseph and Phyllis Petty. Tony enjoyed wrist wrestling and started his wrist wrestling career at Uncle Dan’s in Woodstock, Illinois in April 1980. Tony wrist wrestled in many competitions and won many 1st place trophies. He also claimed the Northern Illinois, Illinois State and North American wrist wrestling titles. By the age of 17 he was the youngest two time, bantam weight, International Wrist Wrestling Club Champion (IWC), something he was very proud of. Tony was an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, writing beautiful poetry, playing the piano but most of all spending time with his daughter, who he loved more than anything.
Tony is survived by his daughter Alyx Whitaker, (Cedar Rapids). Step-son, Joseph Whitaker,( Fulton Ill), sisters Sharon (Patrick) Mooney (Clinton), Tammy Kelley (Tennessee), and brother Joseph (Lynda) Petty (Michigan). Tony was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Phyllis Petty.
