E. L. Moses, a widely known newspaper and magazine writer and brother of Frank S. Moses of this city, passed away suddenly at Jamestown, New York, Tuesday, his brother receiving a telegram announcing the death, which was due to a stroke of apoplexy. The funeral arrangements were not stated.
E. L. Moses will be remembered by many of the older residents of the city. He first came to Clinton in 1871, and worked for a time on the Herald, later returning east, and identifying himself with the Springfield Republican. From 1877 to 1886 he worked on Clinton and Davenport newspapers. While in Davenport he was connected with the old Gazette, under Editor Russell.
Since leaving Clinton Mr. Moses has visited all portions of the nation, following his occupation of a writer on special subjects for newspapers and magazines. He was a most capable writer, and possessed a wonderful memory. He was a deep student of occult philosophy, and his writings were all along scientific and philosophical lines. At the time of his death he was 66 years of age.
During his residence in Clinton Mr. Moses was a member of the original rowing crew of the Wapsipinicon club.
