page 2Rasmus Casperson, an old resident of the city, died suddenly on the street late Tuesday afternoon, death apparently resulting from heart disease.
Mr. Casperson was engaged with the street force, under Deputy Street Commissioner Fransen. A quantity of rock, excavated at 547 Eighth avenue, was being hauled away by the city teams, and Mr. Casperson was working there, when he suddenly sank to the ground. His fellow workers hastily summoned a physician, and the ambulance was summoned. Death had already resulted, however, and the body was removed to a local undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. Coroner M. E. Anderson was notified and conducted an investigation.
Mr. Casperson was upwards of 65 years of age, and had made his home here for about thirty years, coming from Jackson county. He lived in a house he owned on Hickory street, renting the front of the house and keeping a room for himself in the rear. He has a sister, Mrs. Beck, living in Maquoketa, and a married daughter in Davenport.
