The funeral of Mrs. Katherine Wohlenberg, a former resident of this city, was held Sunday afternoon from the German Reformed church in Wheatland. The services were conducted by Rev. William Bollmann, who also delivered an impressive sermon. Burial took place in St. Paul's cemetery. The Wheatland Gazette has the following account of Mrs. Wohlenberg's death.

For about seven weeks Mrs. Katherine Wohlenberg had been confined to her bed by a complication of diseases and a number of times her death seemed certain, but the past week she rallied and some hopes were entertained for her recovery. However, it proved but a brief respite before the final summons, and just before noon on Thursday, Feb. 22nd, she passed away.

Katherine Kramer was born August 8th, 1853, near Quincy, Ill. and moved with her parents to Lyons, Iowa, when still a small girl. There she was united in marriage to Jurgen Wohlenberg, on Sept. 18th, 1870, and the following year they moved to a farm in Welton township, this county, where they lived for the five years following.

The came to Wheatland in 1876 and settled on the farm north of town that has since been known as the Wohlenberg farm, prospering and raising their family until 1901 they turned the management of the farm over to their son Herman and came to Wheatland to spend their remaining days. On June 10th, 1915, the husband and father passed away, and since that time she has lived here with her daughter, Miss Johanna, suffering a part of that time with dropsy and other ailments that finally caused her death.

She was the mother of six children, two passing away in childhood. Those surviving her are Miss Johanna at home, Mrs. Matie Reter of Camanche, Mrs. Emma Bodenhofer, of Lyons, and Herman also of this place. She is also mourned by one brother, August Kramer and a sister, Mrs. C. Webbles, both of this city.

She was a woman of steadfast purposes true to the Christian teachings of her parents, an earnest member of the German Reformed church for many years and a friend in whom one could well put their deepest trust. In her last hours her faith in the fulfillment of all promises made by Him remained unshaken and the pains that racked her body touched not her strengthened soul. May peace forever be with her is the wish of all who knew her and the deepest of sympathy is felt for the bereaved children and relatives who have indeed suffered a great loss.
