After lingering between life and death since last October, John R. Koetter passed away at Mercy hospital Sunday morning at 9 o'clock. Mr. Koetter had been ailing since last spring, but has been confined to the hospital since he suffered a relapse last fall, with cerebral hemorrhages.
John Koetter was born at Warsaw, Ill., October 17, 1862. He came with his parents to Clinton in the summer of 1875, engaging in the wholesale liquor business with his father. In 1880 he became a member of the firm of Koetter & Son. Later the firm became Koetter Brothers, and in 1916 when his health failed, Mr. Koetter sold his interests to H. L. Koetter of this city.
Mr. Koetter never married. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. C. J. Koetter of Peoria; three brothers and four sisters. They are F. W., Charles P., of Peoria; H. L., Clinton; Mrs. William Wolter, Peoria; Clara, Josephine and Ida, Peoria.
The body will be taken to the brother's home, 234 First avenue, where friends may pay their last respects until Tuesday evening at 5 o'clock. The funeral party will then accompany the body to Peoria by way of the Burlington railroad for burial. Friends have been requested to omit flowers.
The funeral will be held from the home in Peoria, and later to St. Joseph's church.
F. W. Koetter and Josephine Koetter have arrived to return with the body. They will accompanied by H. L. Koetter of this city.

The body of John R. Koetter, who died Sunday at Mercy hospital, was taken to Peoria, Ill., this afternoon by way of the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy. The funeral will be held in that city Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock with interment from St. Joseph's church.
H. L. Koetter, of Clinton, F. W. Koetter of Peoria and Miss Josephine Koetter of Peoria were in the funeral party.
