DeWitt, Iowa, Jan. 20--George S. Widle died at about eleven o'clock last night from heart disease, with which he had been afflicted for several months. About two weeks ago he had a very severe attack, but was apparently well enough yesterday to return to his work as carpenter with the George A. Elder Lumber company. He became ill and returned home soon after. Deceased was about seventy years of age and is survived by his wife and two children, also by several grown-up sons and daughters by a former marriage.

The funeral of the late George Widle was held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Rev. W. H. Witham, pastor of the Congregational church, conducted the services. The pallbearers were employes of the Geo. A. Elder Lumber company. They were Messrs. William Weller, J. N. Wallace, W. J. Watters, Joseph Howat, Claude Wendt and George Barr. Interment was made in Elmwood cemetery.

George Smith Widle was born April 18, 1850, at Pottsville, Pa., and died Jan. 19, 1917, in DeWitt, Iowa, age 66 years, 9 months and 11 days.

He was married to Phoebe Vine of Monmouth, Iowa, in the year 1870. To this union was born four children, three daughters and one son. The son died at the age of 9 years. The daughters are: Miss Ludie Midle of Minneapolis, Mrs. George Russell of Baldwin, Iowa, Mrs. J. E. Peterson of Minneapolis.

Mr. Wilde was married the second time to Miss Grace Mattingly of DeWitt, Iowa. To this union was born two children, Raymond, aged 6 and Genieva, age 2.

He also has one step-daughter, Ethel.

Mr. Widle was a carpenter, having been employed as such in DeWitt for the last ten years.

The deceased leaves to mourn his loss besides a widow, one brother and five children, many friends and associates in this community who will miss him in the future.
