Lost Nation, Ia., Oct. 9--William Wulf died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport at 5 o'clock this morning.

He was operated on last week for cancer of the stomach, but nothing could be done.

He leaves a wife and five children, Arnold, Louis, Elmer, Lloyd and William. He was a prominent farmer and stock man and lived two miles east of town. He was 48 years old.

The funeral will probably be held Wednesday but no definite arrangements have been made.

Lost Nation, Oct. 13--Wm. Ernest Wulf was born Feb. ?, 1868 in Schleswig Holstein, Germany. At the age of 15 he immigrated to this country with his parents and settled in this community where he has made his home ever since. On Feb. 2, 1894 he was united in marriage with Miss Julia Bock to which union five sons, Arnold, Louis, Elmer, Lloyd and William were born. He lived on the Whitmer place seven years and for the last 14 years on the William Wulf farm. His health was of the best until 8 years ago when he had his first attack ever since which time he has been ailing. His condition became more serious last March and he felt the need of seeking medical relief. For this purpose he went to Davenport and was operated on last Wednesday. His condition however, was so serious that nothing could be done. His weakened condition together with loss of blood tended toward his demise on last Monday morning, Oct. 9th at 5:30 a.m. He is survived by his widow and children, 2 brothers, John and Rudolph and two sisters, Mrs. H. Horndorf and Mrs. Meyerhofer. He reached the age of 43 years, 8 months and 7 days.

The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon from the Union church, Rev. Vollmer delivering the sermon his text taken from Job 9:12. "Behold. He Taketh Away Who Can Hinder Him Who will say Unto Him What Does Thou". The choir, Misses Lottye Dobling, Ida Dickman, Messrs Burrichter and Dickman sang the songs "Somewhere", Kommt Herr Zu Mir" and "Abide With Me'.

The pall bearers were Geo. and Milt Edleman, Emil Ruggerberg, Henry Hohn, Wm. Balster and Edward Myatt. Interment was made in the Lost Nation cemetery. The excessively large crowd of friends and neighbors, many from a distance expressed the esteem in which Mr. Wulf was held by all who knew him for he fulfilled the duties of life as best he could and all regret that his years of service to his family and friends were brought to a close so soon. They sympathy of all is extended to the sorrowing family, brothers and sisters.
