Petersville, Ia., Sept. 28--The death of Miss Margaret Mears of Centerville, South Dakota, occurred at a hospital at Aberdeen Wednesday where she was employed as a nurse. The remains will be brought to DeWitt Friday morning and burial will take place at Petersville.29 September 1916 - The Clinton Advertiser
page 8Grand Mound, Ia., Sept. 29--News was received here Wednesday by the Lewis Hahn family of the death of Miss Margaret Mears at her home in South Dakota, following a recent operation which she underwent. She recently visited with relatives in this vicinity, and is not a stranger as her parents formerly resided in Clinton county. Friends extend sympathy.

page 9Petersville, Ia. Oct. 3--The people of this community were greatly shocked and saddened by the receipt of the news of the death of Miss Margaret Mears at the home of her father Mr. Peter Mears at Centerville, S.D. Death occurred Wednesday morning after a brief illness.
Her father Peter Mears resided here about 18 years ago going to Centerville, S. Dakota when deceased was about 7 years of age. Her mother died when she was about a year old. An aunt Miss Margaret Mears of California tenderly took care of her in the infant years.
The deceased came here on a visit last summer to Mr. James Watters and family and spent nearly two months renewing her acquaintances with old friends and relatives and had been back to her western home only three weeks when her death occurred. She was a professional nurse and was employed at a hospital at Aberdeen. S.D.
The deceased was a beautiful young woman of a sweet and loving disposition and had endeared herself to all by her womanly traits of character.
The sympathy of her many friends go out to the bereaved ones in the hour of their great affliction.
Her father Peter Mears and sister accompanied the remains from Centerville, S.D. to Petersville, where the burial took place at 9:30 Friday morning at Immaculate Conception church.
A mass of requiem was celebrated by the pastor, Rev. Father Ryan. Rev. Father O'Dowd of Charlotte delivered a very touching sermon. Interment took place in the adjoining cemetery by the side of her mother, a brother and sister.
The floral tributes were many and beautiful showing the regard and esteem in which the deceased was held.
The pall bearers were Ralph Goodall, Charles Watters, Joseph McGinn, Vincent Quinlan, William Watters, Thomas O'Meara.
