Services for Mrs. Hattie May Rice, 86, who died Monday at her home in Calamus, will be Thursday in Calamus Wesley Methodist church. The Rev. Donald Litchenfelt will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill cemetery, Calamus.
Mrs. Rice, born Sept. 14, 1870, in DeWitt, was the former Hattie Schaeffer. She taught in the rural schools near Calamus and was wed to Charles Rice Jan. 2, 1893, in DeWitt. The couple lived in Calamus.
She was a member of the Methodist church, its W.S.C.S., and Calamus Auxiliary to the American Legion.
Surviving are three sons: Thomas, Louis and Fred, all at home; five daughters, Mrs. Elsie Sergeant, Mrs. Donald Rogers and Mrs. Carl Marolf, all of Tipton, and Mrs. Clyde Warren and Mrs. Sarah Stolte, Calamus; eight grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
