page 7After an illness lasting all summer, Mrs. Fred Sear died this morning at 7 o'clock at her home, 1226 Camanche avenue.
Mrs. Sear has been a resident of Clinton county more than thirty years, coming here from England at the age of 16. She was born in Lincolnshire, England, October 24, 1866. In 1885 she was married to Fred Sear at DeWitt and they had made their home on the farm near that city until two years ago they built a new home and came to Clinton to live.
Besides her husband, four children are left. They are Fred Sear of Bryant, Mrs. Rolla Lee, John Sear and Stella Sear, of Clinton. Five grandchildren are also left.
No funeral arrangements have been made.

page 6Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Fred Sear, who died at her home Thursday after a lingering illness due to a nervous breakdown. The Rev. George Cady of the Congregational church preached the sermon at the home, on Camanche avenue. Miss Florence Bergendall sang.
Mrs. Sear was Miss Jennie Smith before her marriage to Fred Sear at DeWitt November 4, 1885. She was born in Lancastershire, England, October 24, 1866, and came to America with her parents in May 1882.
Two sons, two daughters, and five grandchildren are left to mourn the death of Mrs. Sear. They are Fred Sear of Bryant, John of Clinton, Mrs. Rolla Lee and Stella Sear of Clinton.
Burial was made in Springfield cemetery. The pall bearers were Harry Carber, William Lee, Thomas Carsten, William Thielbour, William Kuber and William Miller.
Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral are: Fred Sear and family, Bryant; Mrs. Alfred Gostic and daughter Ruth of DeWitt, and Fred Meyer of DeWitt. A number of old friends and neighbors now residing at McCausland also attended the service.
