page 6Joseph Henry Widderich, aged 62 years, 7 months and 6 days, died Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock at his home, 301 Exchange street, after an illness of two years with cancer of the stomach.
Deceased was born February 14, 1854, in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany. He served three years in the German army. January 22, 1881, he was united in marriage to Katherine Nickels. One daughter was born to them. In 1884 he came to New York and one year later came to Lyons, where he has lived ever since. He had a large circle of friends in this city who will be grieved to learn of his death.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Edna, at home and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Helen Hundley of Marshalltown, Iowa; one grandchild and five sisters, four living in Germany and one, Mrs. Catherine Rathjesack, living in Lyons.
Short funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 12:15 from his late home and the funeral sermon preached at 12:30 at St. John's Lutheran church by Rev. Hugo Grimm. Interment will be made in Oakland cemetery.
