page 6After an illness of some three weeks, David Gaffney passed away Monday evening at 7:30 at the age of 58 years, death being due to complications of diseases.
David Gaffney was born in the vicinity of Elk River Nov. 19, 1857 and lived on a farm there until he came here with his family 26 years ago and since that time they have lived on North Ninth street. Mr. Gaffney was a prominent Clinton County farmer and his death will be mourned by a great many friends who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family.
Deceased is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. John Owens of Clinton and Misses Winifred and Alice at home, also one son David Jr., two sisters, Mrs. E. W. Ruddey and Miss Julia Gaffney, both of Spokane, Washington and one brother, M. A. Gaffney of this city.
Funeral services will be held at nine o'clock Thursday morning at St. Irenaeus church and burial will be in Cavalry cemetery. Friends are asked to omit flowers.

page 6The funeral services for the late David P. Gaffney were held at 9 o'clock this morning at St. Irenaeus church. A solemn high mass was celebrated with Rev. Father Brady as celebrant and Fathers Murphy and Barry as deacons. During the service Lyle Flanagan very beautifully rendered two solos.
After the mass the funeral cortege made up of a great many friends of the deceased paying their last respects proceeded to Calvary cemetery, where the body was interred. The pallbearers were: J. E. Purcell, John Dolan, Peter Owens, Patrick Lyons, J. C. Hand and John Dever.
A large number of persons from the surrounding country were here to attend the funeral, while J. C. Doyle of Clear Lake was also here.
