Michael Dalton of Grand Mound died at Mercy hospital last night after an illness of one year. He had been in the hospital since the first of August last year.

Grand Mound, Ia., Aug. 1--The death of Michael Dalton, who has been a patient at Mercy hospital, Clinton, for the past six months, occurred there last Saturday morning, after a lingering illness, borne with Christian fortitude. The remains were brought here to the home of his mother Saturday night.

The deceased was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1861 and moved with his parents to this country when but a child. He spent a number of years prior to his illness in St. Louis, when he became broken in health and returned to Grand Mound, where he stayed until taken to the hospital. He was an honorable, upright citizen, and a kind loving son and brother, whose place in the family circle will be sadly missed. Besides his aged mother, Mrs. Mary Dalton, he leaves five brothers and six sisters, who are James of Davenport, Joseph of Calamus, Thomas of Vail, Ia., John of Nebraska, William of St. Louis, and Mrs. Nellie O'Brien of Davenport, Mrs. Pat Lynch of Vail, Mrs. Jus. Lipeck of Marion, Mrs. Chas. Lee of Arkansas, Mrs. Kate Marron of DeWitt, and Anna at home. The sympathy of the entire community is extended to the bereaved ones. The funeral services were held at Sts. Philip and James church yesterday morning, services being conducted by Rev. D. J. Riordan, with interment in Calvary cemetery, under direction of J. W. Kelly, undertaker

The following named friends were bearers of the pall: John and Thos. McMahon, John Martin, John Denahy, Thos. Lynch and Frank McGarry.

Those from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Marron and Mrs. Kate Marron of DeWitt; Mr. and Mrs. Frank McGarry, Mrs. Nellie O'Brien and Miss Nellie O'Brien and Wm. Pye of Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Burke of Welton; Wm. Siegmund and family of Calamus, and Jas. Lynch of Marion.
