James Watkins McPherson died this morning at 9 o'clock at his home, 209 South Sixth street, from old age and complications.

Deceased was born May 6, 1838, in New York and came here with his father and sister in 1863. He engaged in the grocery business and at one time operated a store at the stand now occupied by M. C. Lollich.

He was quite prominent in educational affairs, and was secretary of the Lyons school board for 27 years. He retired from active life about 5 years ago and for the past three and one-half years had been an invalid.

He leaves one sister Miss Flora McPherson with whom he lived.

The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and will be private. Burial will be made in Oakland cemetery. Friends are kindly asked to omit flowers. Friends can view the remains Friday morning from 10 to 12.

Funeral services for the late James W. McPherson will be held Friday morning from the home 209 South Sixth street, at 10 o'clock. The services will be private. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Funeral services for the late James Watkins McPherson were held this morning at 10 o'clock from the home 209 South Sixth street, in charge of Rev. N. A. McAulay. Previous to the services which were private members of the school board on which the deceased served for 27 years viewed the remains and the teachers of the schools went to the home in a body.

Burial was made in Oakland cemetery and the following men acted as pallbearers: W. H. Ebensberger, G. F. Marquis, L. Moeszinger, A. L. Holmes, ? W. Beez and M. C. ?
