Folletts, Iowa Oct. 10--Mary Etta Van DeVere was born in the town of Root, Montgomery Co., N.Y. Jan. 11, 1828 and died Oct. 8th 1916 aged 87 years, 8 months and 25 days. In 1849 she was united in marriage to Benjamin Mowers. To them three children were born Charles B. with whom she has lived for several years, Emily who died when 12 years old and Jacob C. They came to Iowa in 1858 for a short time and again in 1865 when they settled on the farm about 4 miles west of here and where the family have lived ever since. Her husband preceded her to the great beyond in 1895. Soon after her marriage she joined the M.E. church and has been a devout Christian ever since. She leaves besides the two some eight grand children and five great grand children. Several cousins and a host of friends in the vicinity to mourn her loss.
