H. C. Thorne, 634 Camanche avenue, died at his home Thursday night at 11:30 o'clock. Heart trouble is thought to have been the cause.

Mr. Thorne retired in his usual health but at 11:30 when his wife went into the room, he was breathing his last. A physician was immediately called, but he was past medical aid.

H. C. Thorne had been an employe at the Northwestern railroad shops for twenty one years, and was still in active service at the time of his death. He is the father of J. G. Thorne, city engineer, and a brother of G. W. Thorne, 618 Camanche avenue.

Mr. Thorne was born in Toronto, Iowa in 1856, and came to Clinton in 1892. He leaves besides his son, one daughter Mrs. N. S. Plank of Davenport and one sister and a brother, Mrs. Homer Brown of West Bend, and William G. Thorne of Oxford Junction.

No funeral arrangements were announced today.

Funeral services for H. C. Thorne, father of J. G. Thorne, city engineer, were held from his late home, 634 Camanche avenue Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of the Rev. George R. Cady, of the First Congregational church.

Burial was made at Springdale cemetery, where the Masonic service was read by Worshipful Master Charles Hoffman.

Relatives from out of the city who were here to attend the funeral are: Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Thorne, Oxford Junction; Mrs. Thomas Williams, Oxford Junction; Mrs. Nicholas Plank, Davenport; Mr. and Mrs. Jake Fields, Rock Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Rufus Penfold, Denver, Colo.
