page 6

Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Fellows at 315 Prospect street, occurred the death of Mrs. Melinda Potter, after a very brief illness, death being due to old age and its infirmities.

Melinda Tuck was born in Fayette, Maine, June 16, 1823 and in 1845 was united in marriage to John Potter of Brunswick, Maine. Nine years later they moved to New York State and remained there until 1868 when they came to Iowa and settled in Clinton. Mr. Potter died in Moline, Ill. in 1880.

While living in Clinton, Mrs. Potter was affiliated with the Methodist church but upon moving to this city to make her home with her daughter some eight years ago she became a member of the Lyons Presbyterian church and remained of that faith until death.

Mrs. Potter was a well known and respected resident of this city. She leaves to mourn her loss besides Mrs. Fellows of this city, Mrs. Augusta Mallory of St. Louis, Mo., John and Russell Potter and Mrs. Narridan of Mississippi.

Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon from the home at ? o'clock with Rev. N. A. McAulay officiating and burial will be in Springdale cemetery.
