May 31--Albert Lietz, one of our highly respected and prosperous farmers, passed away at his home, 2 1/2 miles southwest of town, Sunday evening at 7 o'clock, after an illness of one year's duration. The cause of death was ulcers of the stomach. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at ten o'clock at the home. Burial at Lowden.

page 5Toronto, Iowa, June 8--Albert Carl Lietz was born June 24th, 1860 in Pomeroy Province, Alt Anke, Germany, and died at his home near Toronto Sunday evening at 7 o'clock of ulcer of the stomach at the age of 55 years, 11 months and 4 days. At the age of 12 years he came to this country and settled near Lowden on June the 21st, 1872, and resided in this vicinity up to the time of his death. On Nov. 6th, 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Licht, and to this union seven children were born, four boys and three girls, William, Herman, Otto and Edward, and Mrs. Ida Engleking, Mrs. Alvina Schroeder and Miss Clara, all who survive him and living in this vicinity. Mr. Lietz leaves to mourn, his beloved wife, seven children mentioned above, one brother, William, of Lowden, and one sister, Mrs. Aug. Witte of Scranton, Pa. and three grandchildren, and a host of neighbors and friends.
Funeral services were held at the home Wednesday morning at ten o'clock and at the M.E. church at Lowden at one o'clock, Rev. Wm. Bollman of Wheatland officiating. Interment in the Lowden cemetery. The pall bearers were old neighbors, Henry Struck, Herman Wischman, Louis Ruchotzke, Chris Hoffman, Fred Schmidt and Carl Holtz.
