Mrs. Amelia Schmitz passed away this morning at the home of M. M. Osborne on Maple avenue.

Amelia L. Stutson was born at Withersfall, New York on February 28, 1834. Her parents removed to Chatanooga county when she was two years of age. In the spring of 1851 the family moved west, settling in Sank county, Wisconsin. The deceased taught in the country schools there for several years, and was married to Mr. Schmitz in 1860. They settled in Kilbourne City where they made their home for over 20 years. Six children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy. The others are Freeman of Davenport, Henry of Lincoln, Herbert of Chicago, Albert of Kansas City and Willis of Clinton.

In 1880 the family came to Clinton. Mrs. Schmitz had united with the Baptist church at the age of 18 years, and during the remainder of her life remained a consistent member of that church, attending its services, and helping in her cheerful way whenever possible, until incapacitated by an accident, which confined her to her home.

The funeral will probably be held at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. Clara Barton circle, Ladies of the G.A.R. will have charge of the church, Dr. Rogers officiating. "Rock of Ages" and "Lead Kindly Light" will be rendered at the services, together with the first verse of the 48th psalm.
