R. R. OFFICIAL PASSES ON, ILL BUT ONE WEEK

Came Up From Ranks as Fireman, Engineer, then Trainmaster. Moved From Belle Plaine.

C A. Spalding, 55, Northwestern trainmaster, died at his home in this city at 5 o'clock Wednesday morning. He had been confined to his home for about a week, but his condition was not considered critical. He was taken very seriously ill early Wednesday morning, and unexpectedly passed on.

Mr. Spalding came to Eagle Grove as trainmaster about three years ago, being transferred here from Belle Plaine to succeed C. A. Larkin who had been transferred to Mason City. Prior to being made trainmaster, Mr. Spalding was employed as a locomotive engineer. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, to whom the sympathy of all is extended.

Funeral Services Thursday

Funeral services will be held at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home this Thursday afternoon at 2:30. Burial will take place at Clinton Friday. The body will be taken to Ames in a special train Friday morning where it will be placed on a fast Northwestern train, reaching Clinton about 3:30 p. m.
