Word was received here this morning of the death of Capt. John G. Moore, now of Lacrosse, Wis., but formerly of this city. Mr. Moore was very well known here and at the time of his death, which occurred suddenly this morning, he was about 58 years of age.

The deceased left here with his family about 11 years ago and previous to that time had lived here, where he was always recognized as a foremost steamboat man and for years operated the old Gardie Eastman for the Gardner, Bacheldor Mills in this city. During his stay at Lacrosse he has been in the coal business there.

He is survived by his wife and one son, J. D. Moore of Lacrosse, who have the deepest sympathy of the many friends in this city. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at Lacrosse.
