THOMAS BUTLER KILLED BY FALL MONDAY NIGHT
CLINTON BRAKEMAN MEETS DEATH BENEATH HIS TRAIN
FUNERAL FRIDAY MORNING
He Leaves a Wife and Two Little Daughters at 831 Summit Avenue

The body of Thomas Butler, a Clinton brakeman, who was killed at Maple Park Monday night, was brought to his home this morning by a funeral party of relatives and friends, including six brothers, five sisters and an uncle, Frank Butler, all of Chicago.

Mr. Butler was killed instantly at 11 o'clock Monday night when he fell from the freight car of train No. 116 which left Clinton about 5 o'clock. There were no witnesses to the accident and the unfortunate man was picked up five minutes after it happened by Brakeman McCormick of the train. The body was horribly mangled. The only decision reached at the inquest was that he slipped while pulling a switch and fell beneath the train, which passed over his body.

Thomas Butler lived at 831 Summit avenue, where he leaves a wife and two little girls, Mary Jane, aged 3, and Anna Marie, aged 1 year. Mr. and Mrs. Butler came to Clinton from Rock Falls, where Mr. Butler was born and raised. Mrs. Butler was Della Bevensee of Clinton. They were married in Chicago four years ago.

Funeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. Mary's church, with interment at St. Mary's cemetery. Five brothers and a cousin will act as pallbearers.

Thomas Butler leaves to mourn his death besides his wife and two babies, six brothers, five sisters, and a number of near relatives and friends. The brothers and sisters are William of East Chicago, Ind. John P., Clinton, Toby, Augustine, Joseph and Loren of Chicago, Margaret, Ellen, Jane and Mary all of Chicago.
