John L. C. Kofahl, aged about 75 years, an old and respected resident of this city, died at 11:30 today, at the home of his son Emil, 310 North Tenth street, after a few days illness.
Mr. Kofahl has been a resident of this vicinity since 1869.
No arrangements have been made for the funeral as yet.

John L. Kofahl was born May 28th, 1841 in Schleswig, Germany. When 4 years old in company with his parents he moved to Denmark. On the 12th day of December, 1861, he was united in marriage to Katherine Steffen of Holstein.
In 1869 he came to Clinton county, locating in Spring Valley township, where he lived for four years. Since 1874 he has lived on North Ninth street, Lyons. His wife died February 19, 1906. Deceased had been ill for some time but his illness was not considered serious. He passed away yesterday morning at 11 at the home of his son, Louis, 817 North Ninth street at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 5 days.
He is survived by three sons Emil and Louis of this city and Otto of Arlington, Wash., one daughter, Mrs. Carsten Paulsen of DeWitt and 12 grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the home of his son Louis Kofahl Rev. C. H. Lutz of the Zion Lutheran church officiating followed by interment in Oakland cemetery.

Funeral services for the late John Kofahl were held yesterday afternoon from the home of his son on North Ninth street. Many old time friends and neighbors attended. There were many floral offerings. Rev. C. H. Lutz of the Zion Lutheran church of Clinton officiated. Interment was made in Oakland cemetery. The pallbearers were John Krebs, F. W. Schwarz, Dave Munz, Carsten Thompson, August Mathiesen and H. B. Paulsen.
