CLINTON MAN FALLS 30 FEET TO HIS DEATH
JOHN DOHERTY, BRIDGE CARPENTER, IS ACCIDENT VICTIM
DIES IN THE AMBULANCE
Deceased, Aged 29 Years, Had Always Made His Home Here--Funeral Probably Saturday

John Doherty of 419 Hickory street, a Chicago & Northwestern carpenter, died in an ambulance at about four o'clock Wednesday afternoon while he was being hurried to Mercy hospital, following a fall from the railroad company's water tank on Camanche avenue.

Mr. Doherty, who was 29 years of age, had been at work on the tank, and lost his footing, falling thirty feet to the ground. He was injured internally and was unconscious when he was placed in the ambulance, fellow employes having hastily telephoned for the conveyance. Officers Knutsen, and Phillips drove at top speed to the scene, and the ambulance was rushed toward the hospital with all expedition, but the young man was dead before the hospital could be reached.

The victim of the lamentable accident was well known in Clinton and Lyons, and intelligence of his untimely death brought grief to his many friends Wednesday evening. The deceased was born in Lyons, and had spent practically his whole life here. He had been in the employment of the Northwestern as carpenter for about five years.

Surviving him are his mother, Mrs. J. C. Doherty, four sisters, Mrs. Will Schult, living west of Lyons, and Misses Margaret, Mary and Elizabeth Doherty at home, and one brother, Arthur Doherty of this city.

The funeral probably will be held from St. Patrick's church at 9 o'clock Saturday morning.
