Double funeral services were held for a brother and sister at Wheatland Wednesday afternoon, May 14, at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Church of Christ.

The Rev. Alvin Volle, of Peace church, Bennett, was in charge of services for Fred J. Schnede, 70, who died early Monday, May 12, and his sister, Minnie Smith, 80, who died at 5:15 a.m. Monday at the Ralston nursing home, Tipton. Both had been ill for some time.

Burial for both was in Pine Hill cemetery, Wheatland. Fred J. Schnede was born Jan. 4, 1888, in Toronto, son of Henry and Caroline Meier Schnede. He was married to Lucinda Peckenschneider Sept. 5, 1912, at Calamus.

He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Nola Weih, Bennett, Mrs. Lois Hein, Tipton, and Mrs. Nadine Ruggeberg, Wheatland; one son, Virgil, Wheatland; 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Smith was born Feb. 3, 1878, in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. She married Harry Smith of Wheatland Dec. 4, 1899.

Survivors include one son, Raymond H. of Wheatland, and one daughter, Mrs. Wilfred Greaves of Seal Beach, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
