C.V. HALL, AN OLD ENGINEMAN, ANSWERS CALL
Cornelius V. Hall, a retired engineer of the Chicago & Northwestern, passed away at his home, 531 Camanche avenue, at 8:35 o'clock this morning.
Mr. Hall had been ailing since last summer, but had been confined to his bed only since last Wednesday. The funeral is to be held from the residence Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
Cornelius V. Hall was born on a farm near Malone, in this county, on April 21, 1861. At the age of ten years he removed to Clinton, and had since made his home here. For 32 years he was in the employ of the Chicago & Northwestern and was one of the best known and most popular enginemen on the East Iowa division. He was placed on the company's roll of honor, which brought retirement from active service on a pension, on February 1st of this year.
The deceased was well known in Clinton, where he had spent practically all his life, and intelligence of his death this morning will bring sincere regret to hundreds of friends in this city and elsewhere. Mr. Hall was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, and of Western Star lodge No. 100, A.F. and A.M.
Surviving are his wife and two daughters by a former marriage, two brothers, John W. and Francis V. Hall of this city, and a sister, Mrs. William Hart of Clinton.
