Word was received here Sunday of the death of Charles F. Phillips at Marshalltown, Iowa, after a brief illness with the grippe. Mr. Phillips was found dead in bed. Charles Phillips was born in the year 1841 at Vermont and came west some years later to Lyons in 1880, where he lived until going to Marshalltown a few years ago. He was very well known here having been in the stone mason and plaster business following his trade for a number of years.

The body will arrive here this afternoon at three o'clock and the funeral will be from the home of George Phillips, 521 South Seventh street, son of the deceased Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Oakland cemetery.

Deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank Smith and three sons, George, David and Arthur, all of this city.
