The death of Mrs. Mary Brophy, which occurred at 10:15 Saturday night marked the ending of the life of the second oldest resident of this city, the oldest being Mrs. Milan who died a couple of hours after Mrs. Brophy.
Mary Harmon was born March 31, 1822, in Clonroche, Ennis Courthy county, Wexford, Ireland and later came to Toronto, Canada where she was united in marriage to Edward Brophy and thereafter came to Lyons in 1870, where she has since made her home. For a number of years she has been living with her daughter, Mrs. M. W. Barry on North Seventh street who survives her with three other children, Sister Mary ??, Mrs. Wm. H. Shean, of this city and George Brophy of Newton, Iowa, also sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock from St. Irenaeus church and burial will be in Cavalry cemetery. Friends are requested to omit flowers.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Mary Brophy were held this morning at 10 o'clock from St. Irenaeus church, where a solemn requiem high mass was celebrated, with Rev. Frank Barry of St. Ambrose, Davenport, and a grandson of the deceased, as celebrant. Rev. Wm. Hannon of St. Ambrose deacon, Rev. Martin Cone, St. Ambrose, sub-deacon, Rev. Joseph O'Donnell of Clinton as master of ceremonies. Rev. Comerford delivered an impressive sermon and six grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers, Messrs Edmund, Louis and Vincent Barry, Thomas, John and Timothy Shean.
Among those from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Nelson LaFountain and Mrs. John Shea of Chicago, also Miss Mary Barry of Chicago and George Brophy and daughter Helen of Newton, Ia., Sister Mary Michael and Sister Mary Alphonso of Davenport.
Burial was in Calvary cemetery.
